Ms. Veronica Powell, M.Ed
Educational Leader | School Counselor | College & Career Advisor
With over 20 years of experience in the field of education, Ms. Powell has dedicated her career to supporting students in their academic and career pursuits. She is deeply passionate about education, believing it to be the most fulfilling profession in the world.
As the first in her family to attend college, Ms. Powell earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Sciences from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She went on to earn a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, and most recently, a Master’s in School Counseling in December 2023. Her diverse academic journey reflects her commitment to lifelong learning and her dedication to improving educational outcomes for all students.
Ms. Powell has served in various roles within education, including Assistant Principal, Career & Technical Education Specialist, College, Career, and Military Advisor, and full-time School Counselor. Her role as a College, Career, and Military Advisor for Lockhart ISD, where she supported over 1,700 students, was particularly impactful. As the Advanced Academic Coordinator, she worked closely with Austin Community College, UT ONRAMPS, and supervised Advanced Placement teachers, gaining valuable insights into postsecondary institutions and educational supervision.
A passionate advocate for college access, Ms. Powell has also worked as an adjunct professor at San Jacinto College and a graduate part-time instructor at Texas Tech University. Her love for teaching, especially at the collegiate level, drives her to inspire students to explore their potential and achieve their goals.
In addition to her roles in education, Ms. Powell offers free post-graduation planning services to students. She assists with college applications, financial aid, job searching, and connecting students with military recruiters, ensuring every student has access to the resources needed to succeed.
Whether working in the classroom, counseling students, or mentoring future leaders, she remains committed to her mission of empowering students and helping them navigate their academic and professional journeys.
